Containers are fitted with various placards on the surface to indicate the risk of cargo. In order to automatically recognize the placard, various problems such as diversity of placard contents and distortion due to the container surface must be considered. In this paper, to solve these problems in recognition process, an automatic placard recognition system using SIFT is proposed and the experimental results are described.
